Welcome!
Small and selective, Kirchenwald Shepherds is an internationally respected Breeder of West German Shepherd show bloodline dogs. We actively show and train our shepherds in the German conformation and Schutzhund tradition, both in the US and Germany. Playing with our dogs in these athletic adventures is great fun—especially when we win! Our ultimate goals, however, are neither flashy show trophies nor perfect Schutzhund scores. We are, above all, a breeder.
We believe that a breeder should have deep knowledge and broad personal experience before daring to bring new lives into the world. More than 45 years of personal hard work on various dog sport fields informs the Kirchenwald breeding program. We emphasize the genetic continuity in our mother lines—six generations of German Shepherd Dogs with proven impeccable character, award-winning anatomy and long, healthy lives.
Kirchenwald Shepherds are smart, versatile animals. Family guardian to avalanche rescue dog. Hospital therapy dog to international show dog. Seeing Eye (Blind leader) dog to Schutzhund sport dog. Handicap service dog to police patrol dog. Sound genetics and good training make our dogs able to do it all.
